Just look at this amazing bouquet I found while reading Jessica Claire’s blog-site! I just love that Square Root combined the tulips with the cockscomb…what a great combo!

how cool is this bouquet?
giving thanks.
Things I am thankful for:
- Being blessed with a passion that drives Simply Modern Weddings. (sometimes into the wee hours of the night!)
- Having a husband who supports me so much, that he is right there in the trenches working with me.
- Getting to witness the love of my amazing couples and working with them to create their special day. (they truly inspire me)
- My blog readers, for being interested in all the crazy things I have to say!
- My faith, my family, my country, my health
I am wishing you all a safe and wonderful holiday weekend. May you be filled with lots of love and things to be thankful!

another fab contest!
Head over to Style Me Pretty to check out their newest contest. The talented Sarah Drake is giving away a set of letterpress invites in her spring design shown below to one lucky Style Me Pretty reader. The winner will receive 100 invitations, response cards and envelopes. You also get to customize your envelope and ink colors, but I am totally digging this color combo!
Good times at the ABC Annual Conference!
The ABC conference last week was a blast! What’s amazing is seeing wedding professionals from all over the world come together to learn new things and discuss ways improve our industry.
One of my favorite activities was the wedding storyboard design challenge. Over 15 teams, random themes, and only 20 minutes to create a complete wedding vision. Although we didn’t win, I think my team did an awesome job designing our Indy500 theme wedding….it was “modern racer chic”!
Of course the highlight was the session with designer extraordinaire, Colin Cowie. His work is so breathtaking and it was great to see how he puts on these fabulous events. A very exciting moment was the live auction benefiting the ABC scholarship fund. The winner would shadow Colin for one of his weddings. When all was said and done, the scholarship received a total of $100,000 from the auction and 10 lucky planners will be shadowing Colin Cowie to see how the magic happens…what a treat!
Finally, if there is one thing in our industry…we love to throw a party! The ABC conference was no exception to this. We had the welcome reception on opening night, the “white party” the 2nd night, and the “OC Seaside Soiree” on the last night. These were great outings for us to get together and unwind after a long day of class. My favorite part of the parties? The photobooths of course…these always get a little wacky. (especially when props are involved!)

photo booth + props = craziness! (can you spot me?)
More photobooth fun!
say "I Do" With a Big Do contest!
I love hearing when people have found ways to “give back” to others. So imagine my joy when I learned of this wonderful “Say I Do With a Big Do” contest for a bride who has lost their hair due to breast cancer treatment.
What a special gift to the lucky bride who will win over $10,000 worth of services for their wedding, including human hair extensions, floral design, wedding coordination, and more! Christine with the Spiraled Stem is always ahead of the curve when it comes to giving back…which is why we LOVE her so much! Head over to her site to learn more about this wonderful contest.

trying to get over a cold!
I have spent the past 4 days home with the worst cold. It started off Wednesday night with a bit of the sniffles and turned into a full blown cold on Thursday morning (101 degree fever and all). So what’s a girl to do? Besides eating soup and grilled cheese sandwiches, I used the time to watch my all time favorite tv series ever. SATC!
As I lay on the couch, in my NyQuil haze…I laughed and cried my way through the love lives of Carrie, Charlotte, Samantha, and Miranda. Oh, like the scene Big tells Carrie that he is engaged to Natasha?! That was one of the most powerful scenes in the series. Not necessarily the happiest, but definitely powerful.
What was your favorite SATC moment?
things to come.
For the last 3 days, I have been at the Fairmont Newport Beach attending the annual conference for the Association of Bridal Consultants. The highlight of the conference was getting to meet Colin Cowie yesterday. I definitely will share all the fun in a separate post!
In the meantime, here is a sneak peek from Susan at En Pointe Photography of Kristy and Sinisha’s wedding this past Saturday.
totally non-wedding related…
but don’t forget that Tuesday the 4th is Election Day. Make sure to get out there and ROCK the VOTE!
Of course it also gives you a reason to host a fun election night party. (I’m all about any reason to come up with cool decor for a party!)
I just love this cool invite that Rebecca over at White Aisle did for her election party…so cool!
How cute are these cookies and cupcakes from Elenis?!
Make patriotic drinks with recipes from Real Simple
Add a little fun to the night by playing a little Stratego’s “democrats vs republicans” game
Whatever you do…just make sure your voice is heard and VOTE!!!
