Yearly Archives: 2009

bye bye 2009…and sneak peek for 2010!

2009 was a year of many blessings both personally and with simply modern weddings…and i am looking forward to more in 2010!

since today is officially the last day of 2009, i figured it best to share a shot from my last wedding of the year. the awesome michele m. waite came down from washington, battled crazy flight delays…but still was fabulous enough to rock out this wedding a couple weeks ago.

love love love this couple…love love love their wedding style! more to come into the new year!

have a safe and rockin nye peeps!

not only is today christmas eve, it’s also national eggnog day! mmm mmm…nothing like filling up on eggnog to really put me in the Christmas spirit! want to know what is the best eggnog of all time? broguiere dairy eggnog! every year since living in orange county, i search grocery stores high and low for bottles of their yummy deliciousness! if you are an eggnog fan, and you haven’t tried them…you are truly missing out!

since i can’t drink eggnog everyday, i wouldn’t mind taking a bath in it everyday! what…you say?! yup, philosophy makes a decadent smelling
eggnog bubble bath that you can soak in. just don’t go pouring alcohol in the tub!

i finally know what i need for all those cool business cards that i have lying around my office from networking events! all i have to do is organized them in this nifty little business card “mini filing cabinet” from think geek. this online store has the craziest things for geeks like james and i…and maybe even that special geek in your life too!

sorry to say this…but i am convinced that anthropologie is the devil. why else would they pull me in with their swoon worthy catalogs and mesmerizing photoshoots? because they are the devil and want me to spend all my $ that’s why!

but alas, i cannot help but love this flirty necklace! imagine how awesome this would look for a wedding!

advent calendar: day #21

i am still on a high from yesterday’s bollywood party…largely due to a love of sharing my favorite movies with friends! (so glad you girls loved kal ho naa ho!) i was also super stoked that i finally had a chance to wear my aqua blue, beaded salwar kameez brought back from pakistan from my past bride and dear friend sara! since i have yet to get my salwar pants tailored, i just rocked my kameez tunic with black leggings and a chunky black and metal belt. that was a fun “accidental fashion” combo…i may need to do that again!

as cute little favors for the girls, i gave them a mix of aqua, amethyst, and gold bangles to wear for the party. bangles are always super fun to dress up an outfit, but my favorite indian inspired jewelry is by amrita singh. she has such a fabulous twist on traditional indian jewelry…like mixing jeweled and wood bangles. i also love that she has no shortage of turquoise colored pieces (of course!). i am so loving this bridgehampton cuff bracelet below. (maybe to go with my dream saree?)

advent calendar: day #20

i am finally sitting down in front of my computer after cleaning up after the fun “bollywood movie night” i hosted with some friends. some of you may not know of my obsession with indian films…but it is a definite passion of mine. my collection of hindi films has well surpassed my collection of american films, which is not hard to do considering that mumbai is the movie capital of the world…producing more than double the movies than hollywood does.

as i was shopping in artesia on saturday for sweets, favors, and fun decorations for our little get together, i fell in love with a beautiful aqua and amethyst colored saree in one of the stores. get this…they had amazing sales at 50% off, so it was only $35! i thought of getting it to use as a table runner for the party, but it was too beautiful to even dream of cutting. so then i thought of buying it for myself to wear. but then thought “come on, when will i ever have a chance to wear a saree?” so my sensible “no impulse buying” self said to forget about it and move on. but as it happens when you don’t buy things you want…it’s all i can seem to think about!

hmm…maybe my dosti (friend) santa will get me a beautiful saree this year, like this one below from culture chic. this one is very “simply modern weddings”!

so now that my mind is on wine and cheese…yum…i have to say that i really love nifty little wine gadgets. i am not sure if they really do make a difference in bringing out the flavor of wines, but it seems to me like they make the wine much more tasty! my friend has one of these red wine aerators and i swear this thing works. (not to mention it looks fun to use!) i need to get one of these!

advent calendar: day #18

2 things i absolutely love…wine and cheese!

oh yeah, i could seriously live on wine and cheese for the rest of my life! my problem is that i don’t know much about pairing wine and cheeses together. so to educate my tastebuds, i must get this cheese and wine guide by janet fletcher. yummy yummyness!

advent calendar: day #17

i can’t stay away from ruche…it’s addicting! just got a pair of cozy fingerless gloves that came in handy during last week’s crazy cold weather. i call them my “fabulous hobo gloves” and love them.

what’s new on my “must get list” from ruche? this awesome geek-chic necklace! this way i can still rock the glasses, even when i am wearing contacts. super cool!
