growth and closets…

okay peeps, today is gonna be a quick long little post. i am currently in la getting my business focus on at a wonderful wedding industry workshop. yesterday was super intense and my brain almost went into overload thinking about my business changes in the past 5 years. my goals, accomplishments, things i would have done differently, my niche, my mission statement. ay…so much!

so it made me start thinking of closets. why closets you ask? because i am the wife that takes the entire walk-in closet in our master bedroom, leaving james with a little piece of the office closet. i will justify it by telling him “closets are biased against women, how can we be expected to fit all our stuff in half of a closet?” and “besides, you only wear 6 outfits anyway!”. as women, it seems that over the years we are constantly adding more and more to our closet. we always find room for one more cocktail dress, one more pair of your favorite skinny jeans, more boots, i could go on and on!

but for some reason many business owners get a mindset that after doing their business for so long, they don’t need to fill their minds with more information to consider what business elements they could be doing differently, reevaluate how their business plan may need to be restructured with time and our ever-changing market, and what educational experience can further enhance their services. i am the first to raise my hand and say “guilty!” on this!

if you think about it, it’s kinda nuts! so it’s cool and fun for the closet, but not for our brains? no! that is why 2010 should be dedicated to being a year of truly finding and defining your company. i will be the first to say that i don’t know as much as i would like, so i will be definitely be investing in my entrepreneurial closet!

no matter what your career or passion…always remember to let your mind be that closet, and stuff it with as much goodies as you can! i don’t know about you, but my “inner self” closet looks like this!

Yvett - Love the topic..definitely some food for thought! I’m just a little sidetracked with that closet, its just so lovely.

James - Wow, that’s a nice closet. I’m glad your “inner self” closet looks like that because your outter closet doesn’t haha. Nice post, I have to remember to keep the nice things in my closet and get rid of all the things I don’t use (wear) anymore.
