i can’t believe it has been a year since jessica+ian’s wedding! where has the time flown?? oh that’s right, i found out i was pregnant a few days after their wedding, pregnancy went by super fast, and of course time moves even faster when you have a little kiddo growing right before your eyes!! so it’s no wonder i COMPLETELY spaced on blogging this seriously beautiful wedding. i shared their inspiration board with you all, and then left you hanging. sorry!!!!
when we first met with jessica and ian, i was drawn to their story of how ian proposed to jessica over an intimate dinner with their friends. it was so fitting to their laid-back personalities, so we talked about finding a way to incorporate that same backyard, dinner-party feel into the styling of their wedding.
while venue hunting with them, it was apparent that rancho del cielo’s backyard setting high up in the malibu hills overlooking the ocean was the perfect location for that intimate vibe they wanted, plus gave all their out of town guests a beautiful experience of a california fresh wedding! jessica and ian are also vegetarians, so a menu with locally grown, sustainable foods was a huge must have for them. i have loved chris & jerry with the food matters for a long time, so i introduced them to jessica and ian and they hit it off immediately because of their mutual love of delicious, fresh foods.
our concept was brought alive by my favorite design vendor team loves: paper and thread for stationery, jl designs on floral, found for handpicked vintage furniture pieces, and of course lit up beautifully by aspect lighting.
my favorite detail that lori created for them is the customized vintage seed packet escort cards attached to garden markers. we planted these in a amazing antique card catalog we “found” at found vintage rentals…this was our pièce de résistance and the guests loved it! i just love how smw kate decided impromptu to cut the garden markers down in varying heights to fit the organic, free flowing feel of everything! the stitched program booklets were a favorite of jessica’s and made a great keepsake for their guests! jl designs really brought the farmer’s market vibe to life with the natural flowing greens and herbs mixed in with soft floral and lots and lots of fresh fruits and veggies. made me want to just eat all the decor!! carissa even created a living greens display for the delicious trio of rustic buttercream cakes from sweet and saucy. as guests watched the sunset over the pacific, the ambient and cafe lighting from aspect brought that intimate “backyard party” feel that kept guests celebrating through the night!
the entire day was captured beautifully by kelty and her twin sister hannah of steep street photography. she is has such a amazing style…her photography and graphic design work is out of this world! how so very lucky jessica and ian are to have her as a good friend!!
to see more of the wedding, you gotta check out their awesome feature on ruffled!!
jessica and ian, you both have such a sweet love and i really cherish our time together throughout all the planning of your special day. i can’t help but to smile as i think about you both every time i stop by reel inn whenever i’m out in malibu, yum yum!! i still can’t believe it’s been a year already…jessica i can still hear your giddy “yays” of excitement as we chatted over all the different aspects of your wedding, and ian thinking of the look on your face when jessica walked down the aisle still gives me goosebumps and makes me tear up. i am so happy that i got to be a part of making your day so special!! cheers to a happy anniversary, and many many more to come!!!
