this will have you “bacon” for more!

if there was one thing that i could never give up eating, it’s bacon! in college there was a year or so when i gave up eating pork, but in the end i totally underestimated my love for bacon. something about the smell reminds me of lazy mornings at my grandma’s where i want to sleep in bed all day…but the smell of her cooking bacon gets me up so i don’t miss out on yummy breakfast! mmm mmm!

so when i came across the sticky pig at the utterly engaged party 2 weeks ago…i thought i had died and gone to bacon heaven! candied bacon, who would have thought that someone could come up with something so sinfully delicious? i really must have irritated tara from sticky pig as i stood at her table trying so many different pieces, all the while saying “wow…this is sooooo good!” remember the little kid augustus gloop from movie willie wonka and the chocolate factory? yes, that was me! if there was a bacon river there, i surely would have fell in!

some of my favorites? maple cinnamon bacon, it tastes like breakfast in 1 bite…also apple pecan dulce de leche bacon, need i say more! they have box sets in various quantities, so if you are a bacon lover like me, what yummier wedding favor to give your guests than a box of 4 candied bacon pieces? i do know what could be even better…just hire sticky pig to come out to your reception and setup a fun treat table as a late night snack for your guests. just be sure to invite me too!

james…if you are reading this….you know what i want for valentine’s day! :)

advent calendar: day #24

not only is today christmas eve, it’s also national eggnog day! mmm mmm…nothing like filling up on eggnog to really put me in the Christmas spirit! want to know what is the best eggnog of all time? broguiere dairy eggnog! every year since living in orange county, i search grocery stores high and low for bottles of their yummy deliciousness! if you are an eggnog fan, and you haven’t tried them…you are truly missing out!

since i can’t drink eggnog everyday, i wouldn’t mind taking a bath in it everyday! what…you say?! yup, philosophy makes a decadent smelling
eggnog bubble bath that you can soak in. just don’t go pouring alcohol in the tub!

advent calendar: day #16

today is the 236th anniversary of the boston tea party! i remember when i was a kid, i really thought that the people in boston were just having a huge party..think alice in wonderland tea-party style! doesn’t that sound so much funner than a political protest? i think so!

my friends have recently helped relight my passion for yummy teas. because i am not a coffee drinker, tea was “my coffee” college. somehow over the years, i lost my tea palate…so i am rediscovering my love for it all over again. which is why i love this cool teapot from teavana. but if i just want some yummy tea without any fuss, i can just head over to tranquil tea lounge in fullerton for my fix. (and some fabulous blueberry salsa!)

advent calendar: day #13

happy national cocoa day! with these cold winter days, nothing sounds yummier than a steaming mug of hot cocoa! it’s so crazy, because i am one of those weird people that don’t like chocolate…but i really love hot cocoa. strange huh? i know…

i saw this cool hot chocolate pot set at william sonoma and thought “what a cool gift idea”, but then this would end up being one of those gifts that i just buy for myself! mmm yummy, i think i will be stopping for a cup of cocoa before my wedding today!

even if you don't have a sweet tooth…

you would go absolutely delirious when you try one of Melody’s cake pops! This is what I tell my couples when talking about the yummy-delicious-goodness of My Sweet and Saucy.

Oooh…there are no words that can explain the heaven that I felt when I first bit into her white chocolate carrot cake pop. This is coming from a person who hates chocolate and isn’t really much of a sweets person, but when something is THAT GOOD I can’t help but think about it all the time. I am actually drooling on myself as I type this blog. :P

What I love about her desserts for weddings, is that it can be so much more than a pretty wedding cake…so much more than doing trendy cupcakes. You can have a dessert FIESTA! I’m talking cupcakes, key lime pies, meringues, cake pops, monogrammed cookies, chocolate dipped pretzels, cotton candy, and also have a beautiful mini wedding cake to cut into. It’s just paradise on a table!

If you haven’t tried Melody’s fabulousness…don’t worry. She just opened her super cute dessert studio in Long Beach last week. They are also having a Grand Opening Party on Saturday August 16th, so head out there to show your support and try her delicious treats! The address is 6400 Stearns Street Long Beach CA 90815.
