we are so overjoyed that the team over at 100 layer cake featured our sweet elyzza+michael’s colorful latin infused wedding! i shared a bit about them last week, but here is more about the inspiration in the design and planning…

elyzza and michael are such a fun, beautiful couple, and wanted their day to be vibrant and full of culture!! they both come from different latin backgrounds, elyzza is mexican and ecuadorian, while michael is el salvadorian…so we wanted the wedding design to reflect something these countries had in common. while researching the countries we ran across these amazing images of pottery being sold in marketplaces, and this immediately became our inspiration.

with the museum of latin american art serving as our backdrop, it made for a perfect blend of the beauty and rich colors that they wanted to reflect in their day! elyzza and i went to a local market in la to handpick all the pottery pieces that we used throughout the wedding. my favorite was the large pottery piece that we used for the guests to sign. all these pieces are meant to be incorporated in their home after the wedding! another fun project was the ceremony decor that was inspired by piñata tissue paper, it was such a beautiful statement piece in the sculpture garden for the ceremony. my floral designer extraordinaire megan with honey and poppies rocked that out! i also loved the handrolled paper flowers that we had lori with paper and thread create for our escort card display piece…it was a colorful work of art!

their day, like them, was full of so much love, laughter, and culture!!! thank you elyzza+michael for letting us be apart of creating your fabulous wedding, and thank you 100 layer cake for telling their story!!

elyzza and michael both come from very rich latin cultural backgrounds, so we wanted to infuse this into their wedding without being biased towards any one country. after researching the similarities between the cultures, we kept coming back to bold colors and pottery. since they were getting married at the latin american museum of art (which is also very colorful and artistic) it was only fitting that the wedding take on this vibe. all the fun elements we brought into their wedding really captured that true latin flair, and it was an absolute dream to see come to life!!

maya and dave’s wedding was such a true labor of love! when she hired me in april, she had a venue and a colorful vision (which i love!) and we just ran with the rest. with maya’s fabulous love of color, our vintage stylist “design partner in crime” erin with dandelion and grey, and our team of vendors we built including honey and poppies and love ala photography to capture it all…it made for a pretty fantastical wedding! plus they are soooooo in love, it’s just freaking adorable!

looking across the blogosphere of weddings, it makes me so happy to see how much maya+dave’s wedding has inspired others to add a little colorful eclectic fiesta-chic to their day! i will never tire of this wedding’s fabulousness…never!

jessica+ian are super sweet middle school teachers with an obsession with all things fresh and organic! during our many venue scouting meetings, i picked up on jessica’s love for nature and gardening. with many of their guests traveling from back east, our design concept was about creating an intimate backyard dinner feel with a california fresh, farmer’s market inspired wedding.

so not only will their guests be treated to drop dead gorgeous view from the malibu estate they are marrying at, but the feel of summertime fresh will be carried throughout the wedding with the delicious seasonal menu and the beautiful organic design we have worked with jl designs on!

and as jessica said, this inspiration board just “smells like fresh fruit from the farmer’s market”!

• witnessing the immense love as a bride toasts to her groom, with tears of joy, saying how thankful she is to have met him and can’t wait to start their new lives together.
• excitement, hugs, and giddiness as my couples see the entire wedding day come to be, and we can share in the fabulous “it’s finally here!” joy!
• the “OMG are you serious?! we are going to be featured? that is soooo coooool!” texts that i get from my bride after sharing the fabulous news with them!

jomie & ricky’s wedding had all of these, and so much more. they are the kind of couple that excites what i do, and i knew that from the moment we met. to be honest, once jomie said “art gallery” and “gourmet sliders” i was in!!! (shh, i probably would have paid them to be a part of it all) haha! but in all honesty, they are one of the coolest peeps on the block, who aren’t afraid to get their hands dirty to give their wedding day that personal touch of love! i just loved every single piece of their day!

okay, so you met my super cool couple jomie+ricky here. yeah…they are pretty darn cool, and super adorable together. we share a love of art, color, and tasty sliders! i don’t want to share too much with you just yet, but i will say that their wedding is right up my alley: clean, modern, artistic, colorful, and just all around awesome!! and i just love them to pieces!!

since my wildly crazy texas groom is all about his homestate, he wanted to have some ranch/hoedown flair incorporated into the wedding. while my dear cecilia, so sweet and chill, wanted more stylish feminine touches…but also to give a nod to her mexican heritage. so what did we come up with? a blushing tex-mex romance to set the tone for their beautiful day!!

i am so excited to kick start our wedding season with such a fabulous wedding! we also have such an awesome vendor dream team that we’re collaborating with on this. i can’t wait to share all the amazing details with you!!
