Journey of a Christmas Tree

Since this is our first Christmas as a family, we decided to celebrate it by getting a Christmas tree. The last real tree I remember having was when I was 9 or 10 years old. Other than that, my husband and I grew up with fake trees. So we were very excited to finally have a real tree and decorate for the holidays.

On Saturday, we went to Pelzer Pines Christmas tree farm in Irvine. Here, you can actually pick out a tree and they will chop it down for you. It was soooo exciting!

Of course we spent over an hour roaming among the trees until we found the perfect one.

After taking it home and getting it prepped in the correct spot, we decided to start with our lights. I guess a box of 100 lights was not enough!

So, one quick trip to Target, solved that! As our pumkin spice candles burned, we continued our tree decorating with Christmas music playing joyfully in the background. Ooooh, I am so happy with how the colors came together!

Then, it came time for our beautiful star to be placed on top of the tree…and it fell over! (why would they sell such a heavy star?) Looks like it’s back to Target for us!

Amanda Forbush - That SAME THING happened to me with my awesome star from Target. The day after we put it on the tree, it had already fallen off several times. So unfortunately I bought it 2 years ago, so I guess I’ll be selling it!! :)

Very cute tree though!!! : )

Michelle Pearson - Great Tree!!! I haven’t had a real tree in 6 years. I sooo want one.

Great Blog

Natalie Moser Photography - How fun… I want to go to the tree farm. Maybe next year. This year our tree farm was Home Depot… not exactly an inspiring experience. Hope the topper ended up working out.. ;)

DrewB - I’m glad I’m not the only one who loves going to the real Christmas tree farm! We got our tree from the Peltzer Pines in Brea. I love it there!

Heather - It looks so good!
Going to the tree farms is such a fun experience. We will probably opt for that next year if our cars don’t keep getting wrecked and put in the shop…

hystudio - We just got our tree setup yesterday as well. I gotta ask Hy to take a photo of it :)

James - That’s funny, it’s a lot more work to a Christmas tree then picking it out, putting it in a stand and making it pretty. Such a fun experience though. My poor star topper, note to self, “if the Christmas tree topper is heavier then the little hand basket you’re carrying around Target, don’t buy it”.
