Can’t find THE perfect dress?

Well…have one custom designed! I recently had a chat with Virginia Vo, who I fell in love with after seeing the two gowns she designed for her recent engagement shoot. She has such an amazing gift for design, and I know she is going to be very successful…very soon. Just you watch!

When did you start designing dresses and how did you get started?
The passion for designing and bridal fashion has always been instilled in me. I’m constantly sketching pictures of dresses and just waiting until one day I can actually see my visions come alive. It was not until planning my own wedding that I was inspired to pursue this as a business. I am really excited and flattered with all the positive responses I have received about my designs.

So when is your big day? Are you designing your wedding gown and bridesmaid dresses?
I am getting married on November 1st of this year! Although I had many thoughts of designing my own wedding gown, I was very fortunate to find the perfect dress of my dreams. I do have itchy fingers, so I’m not saying that I wouldn’t add a little bit to it! For my 6 bridesmaids, I wanted to give them the autonomy to select “the one” dress that ALL would agree on and love. However, with the selection I made subtle changes to my two maid of honor’s dresses and one matron of honor’s dress, so they will stand out from the rest.

How would you describe your style?
That is a great question! I really don’t know if I have a style yet, but if I had to pick three words to describe my vision it would be: “simply elegant”, “stylish” and “glamorous”. Also, when I designed my dresses the most important thing was to accentuate what I don’t have…which are curves. I’ve always loved mermaid dress but never looked good in one because I had no curves. Haha! Well after many sketches and trial and error, I realized it was all in the eyes and that the eyes could be fooled with a few rouging and pleats!

So how can one contact you if they are interested in a custom designed gown?

Honoring loved ones for your wedding

I remember how hard it was planning my wedding knowing that my father or grandfather wouldn’t be there to walk me down the aisle. Even the thought of not having a father/daughter dance made me want to cry. Many couples are the same situation, and it seems that planning such a happy occasion can make the loss that much more noticeable.

There are many ways to honor loved ones for your wedding. A memory table with old family photos, play their favorite song, memory candles, or even a rose on an empty chair during the ceremony. The trick is, you don’t want to put a damper on such a happy occasion.

I had my florist wrap charms around my bouquet with photos of my father and grandfather. So in a way…they were both there, walking me down the aisle on my special day. What I loved best about the photo charms, was that it was a private way to have their presence felt during the day and I can also pass them down to future children.

My favorite source for the photo jewelry is Planetjill. They have a variety of charms, necklaces, cufflinks, and even a something blue charm that you can pin inside your dress or on your bouquet!

A year already?!

Sorry for the slow blog week…I was taking some time off for my 1 year anniversary. To make it up, I included some eye candy from our wedding last year.

As I reflect on the wedding planning, I can’t help but be thankful to my venue (W Hotel), photographer (HyStudio), florist (Simply Blooms), and wedding coordinator (l’eventique) who were all life-savers while we planned our out of town wedding. We couldn’t have pulled the day off without them! (I always stress how important it is to hire a great vendor team for your wedding)

Now for the photos, courtesy of the fabulous HyStudio (of course I included tons of detail shots!)

You are my best friend and I am so blessed to have you in my life. Happy anniversary love!
