eye candy from A Soolip Wedding

I was so excited last week when I learned that the fabulous ladies over at junebug weddings were photographing this year’s A Soolip Wedding that took place this past Sunday! If you are not familiar with them, head over to their website or blog to learn more and see all the beautiful real weddings they feature. They even have a cool section on the site called groombugs which has great ideas for grooms!

Since I knew they were going to blog some yummy eye-candy from the show, it allowed me to leave my camera at home. So here it is peeps…fabulous bits from the 10th Anniversary of Soolip Wedding!

letterpress fanatic & giveaway alert!

My brides know me as a paper fanatic (okay I am also a linen, photography, and décor fanatic) but I love touching beautiful paper. I especially love letterpress…it has such a luxurious look and feel to it! So when I run across letterpress goodies, I file them away for future reference. I found one such item while looking at the amazing work of Sarah Drake Design.

Sarah does beautiful custom letterpress invitations along with other cool items like calling cards, gift tags, and notecards. Her passion is getting to know her clients to create unique pieces that are a representation of them. (something we are also very passionate about at SMW!)

When I saw her new mini journals, I practically squealed with joy! Each handmade journal is 16 pages, has a letterpress cover, and is wrapped with a beautiful silk ribbon. They can be used for so many things: a gift to a friend that is a writer, a unique wedding favor, or you can use them to jot down all your wedding ideas!

Best of all…Sarah has generously given us a set of 3 journals for one lucky blog reader to win!

To enter the giveaway: Go to Sarah’s website and then leave us a blog comment on which of the pieces under her “custom” or “wedding” gallery is your favorite!

The contest will end on Monday, April 6th at 11:59pm PST. Winner will be randomly chosen and announced Tuesday, April 7th. Good luck!

Below are samples of Sarah’s beautiful pieces or check out her blog for more inspiration!

Photo Friday!

I love this photo! It shows that an elopement doesn’t mean having to sacrifice on hiring a great photographer. With all the money saved from skipping the traditional wedding route…you can go all out and apply it towards bringing along an amazing destination wedding photographer to capture your special moment!

This couple had a “simple sweet” wedding in the Riviera Maya that was captured by one of my favorite new photographer finds, Maine based destination photographer emilie inc. You can see more images from their beautiful day here.

and the winner is…

comment #7! random.org has spoken and the 2 tickets to A Soolip Wedding goes to Kirsten who said: “My wedding date is tentatively set for December 31, 2009. We’re keeping it modern by saying “I do” at the stroke of midnight. And no sitdown dinner for us – it will be tapas and champagne all night long!”

Congratulations Kirsten, you will receive an email shortly with instructions on claiming your prize. I am sure you will find many ideas to infuse into your NYE soiree!

For those who did not win this time, don’t fret. In my book everyone is a winner…so we are offering discount tickets to Soolip Wedding for $25 to all my blog readers! Just click here and enter “Launch09″ as the discount code. Please note, there are only a limited number of these discounted tickets…so ACT FAST!!

Their fashion show this year will feature designs from the Kirstie Kelly line. How beautiful are the details in this gown?!

Photo Friday!

When I visit my grandma, one of my favorite things to do is pull all her old photo albums out of the bookshelf in the garage. I dust them off and then flip through the photos laughing with her on how “smokin hot” she and granddaddy were as newlyweds! (oh grandma is a true diva!) :-)

There is something about this week’s photo from Ashley Garmon Photographers that makes me think of grandma’s albums. It’s so very vintage, yet fun and stylish.

one more week…

until the fabulous Bloomingdale’s Pre-Wedding Party! If you haven’t done so already, make sure that you RSVP! I have included the invitation below. Come and…

- be inspired by the creativity of Oh How Charming
- see the beautiful work of Aaron Delesie Photography and Mindy Rice Floral Design
- taste the absolute yumminess of Food Art Events and Vanilla Bake Shop

All while you shop for super cool registry items. What more can you ask for!?

I will be there, so make sure to say hello! (I love meeting my blog readers in person!)

fabulous way to start the day…

I woke up to an email this morning from BrideTide letting me know that Simply Modern Weddings was selected as one of the “Top 100 Wedding Blogs to Follow in 2009″!

Wow, I feel extremely honored and blessed to be included amongst my industry peers and some of my personal favorite wedding blogs! Click here to see the other blogs that were included as inspirational sources that drive our industry!

Thank you so much for showing us love BrideTide!

Happy St. Patty's Day!

Green is such a fun color to use for wedding decor. You can use moss green for an earth toned, natural wedding design. Or you can pair chartreuse with aqua for a bright, whimsical chic wedding. Another favorite is pairing green with crisp white for a fresh, modern minimalist look. There are so many options using various shades of green, the design ideas are endless!

Whichever shade of green is your favorite, I hope that you are wearing it today…or be prepared for a pinch!

haute and hot!

Being a Bay Area native, I have been a fan of Haute Bride for years. I first ran across their collection over 6 years ago while working as a spa manager in Willow Glen when we were looking for unique jewelry line to offer our clientele. Of course they still have amazingly beautiful pieces. If you haven’t checked them out, make sure to mosey on over to their site to drool over their collection of intricate brooches, hair pins, and jewelry. To stay up to date on their work and see their upcoming trunk show schedule, head over to their blog.

If you are in the San Francisco area, Haute Bride’s salon will be hosting a trunk show featuring Matthew Christopher designs Wednesday, April 1st through Saturday, April 4th. They will also have a cocktail party Thursday evening. For more information about the trunk show and cocktail party, click here.

I am absolutely in LOVE with Matthew’s newest ad campaign…definitely a great collaboration with Haute Bride, as these ads are “vintage hot”!
